🦅 Athletics: A Strong Start to the Fall Season

The first month of the athletic year has been full of excitement at North Broward Prep, with several programs making strong early-season statements and setting the stage for what promises to be an incredible fall.

🏐 Reigning State Champion Volleyball Starts Hot

The reigning state champion volleyball team is off to a 5–1 start and showing early signs that they are ready to make another deep postseason run. Led by new head coach Chelsey Tekavec, the Eagles have come out with confidence and energy and will face another big test this weekend at a two-day tournament. With a championship pedigree and plenty of season still ahead, NBP looks poised to once again be a force late in the season.

🏈 Football Finds Its Stride

Varsity football may have stumbled out of the gate, but the Eagles responded in a big way heading into their bye week. NBP picked up an impressive 28–20 victory over Pembroke Pines Charter, giving the team some much-needed momentum as they head into the break. The Eagles will use the bye week to regroup, get healthy, and prepare for the challenges ahead as they look to build on this important win.

⛳ Golf Programs Making Early Statements

Both NBP golf programs have gotten off to strong starts. The girls opened their season at the Lady Maverick Invitational, where weather played a major factor throughout the competition. Led by seniors Jesera Mendez, Ava Koury, and Jordan Ellis, the Eagles have their sights set on returning to the state tournament for the third consecutive year.

The boys’ program has also been firing early, highlighted by an impressive opening performance from 7th grader Eli Widom, who was throwing darts all afternoon and carded a final score of 37. New head coach Zach Newell is excited about the potential of both programs and has high expectations as the season continues to develop.

🏃 Cross Country Building Momentum

The cross country program has gotten off to a strong start, with sophomore Caden Nassar leading the way early in the season. Nassar has posted an impressive 17:48.6 time, setting the pace for an Eagles program that is looking to continue improving throughout the season. With plenty of racing still ahead, the team has its sights set on taking the next step and earning a trip to the state meet.

🏊 Swim Making Waves

Varsity swim has been in the pool for four weeks, working hard on technical improvement and conditioning. Coach Alex has been a great addition to the program, and her impact has been immediately felt in the teams’ progress and development. The Eagles will compete in their first major meet this week, and the coaching staff is excited about what they have seen from the team during early-season evaluations. With a strong foundation already in place, the Eagles are looking forward to seeing that hard work translate into competition.

🏐🏈 Middle School Athletics Ready to Roll

The future of NBP Athletics has been hard at work as well. Middle school flag football and volleyball have been putting in the work during preseason preparations and are gearing up for their season openers this week. With practices underway and excitement building, our youngest Eagles are ready to represent the Prep and get their seasons started.

It has been an exciting first month, but this is only the beginning. With championship aspirations, emerging young talent, and programs continuing to build momentum, the Eagles are ready for what comes next.
